As is custom following Belgium's National Day, the Royal Palace in the heart of the capital will open its doors to the public for free from Saturday 23 July until Sunday 28 August.

During the tour, visitors will be guided through the historical salons, including The Empire Room in the oldest part of the palace and The Marble Room, in the rear part of the Palace, recognised for its imposing character as a result of the abundant use of green marble and the various portraits of horsemen.

However, aside from the tour through the historic rooms, three temporary exhibitions will be organised throughout the summer in the unique location, which is the administrative residence and main workplace of the King and the Queen of Belgium.

Visitors will also be able to discover the highlights of King Baudouin’s reign — from when he became the fifth King of the Belgians at the age of 20 in 1951 until his death, in 1993 — in the exhibition titled “Baudouin, being King," where images, archives and objects will be put on display, of which some are being shown to the public for the first time ever.
