Belgium's Princess Delphine (54) has responded to an incorrect quote from an interview. "Normally I don't speak out about misquotes, but this one is just wrong," she said in an Instagram post.
British tabloid The Daily Mail misquoted the Belgian princess from an interview with Tatler this weekend. That interview has not yet been published, but Princess Delphine Van Saksen-Coburg is said to have compared herself to Princess Diana. "Because I'm a princess of hearts and I'm very generous when it comes to charity work," the quote reads.
According to the princess, the quote isn't correct and has been taken out of context. "I don't normally speak out about misquotes, but this one is just wrong," she wrote on Instagram.
"The quote has been taken out of context. I would never compare myself to Princess Diana - whom I admire. We have very different stories. And I would certainly never call myself a princess of hearts."
Princess Delphine of Belgium (born 22 February 1968) is a Belgian artist and member of the Belgian royal family. She was previously known as Jonkvrouw Delphine Boël because she is King Philippe's half sister.
Although she is the daughter of King Albert II of Belgium, her mother was Baroness Sybille de Selys Longchamps. King Philippe's mother is Queen Paola, daughter of the Italian aristocrat Fulco VIII, 6th Duke of Guardia Lombarda. However, on 1 October 2o2o, she was recognised by law as Princess of Belgium with the style "Her Royal Highness". Previously, she had belonged to the Belgian nobility and was leally Jonkvrouw Boël.
