More than 130 works will be on permanent display from Thursday in a museum on Rue de Laeken, Brussels, dedicated to famous street artist Banksy, known for the critical view he takes of society through his drawings.
Some of the artist’s works were previously displayed at the same location at the 'The World of Banksy' exhibition, which allowed the Belgian public to discover various creations by the artist.
The exhibition is now dedicating a permanent location to him, the new Banksy Museum.
Among the exhibits are his most famous works and others that are less well known to the general public.
Visitors will be able to discover some of his most recent productions, such as those done in Ukraine in November, including the gymnast, the woman with the fire extinguisher and the judo fight.
'We want to highlight the artist's political commitment'
To reproduce these works, screen prints were used, as well as reproductions of the British artist’s work by other internationally renowned street artists.
“We want to highlight the artist’s political commitment, with a real vocation for reflection and exchange,” said Hazis Vardar of the Banksy Museum.
To this end, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in one of the artist’s seminal creations: the 'Walled Off Hotel.'
This is a reproduction of the Bethlehem hotel overlooking the wall separating Israel and Palestine, one of the many global issues to which the artist has dedicated his work.
The museum's exhibits also include works by Banksy that no longer exist because they have been erased or destroyed.
