As president of the European Council president his salary is expected to rise substantially, reaching 32,700 euro gross per month.
The salary of the President of the European Council is modeled to the European Commission President’s, Jean-Claude Juncker’s salary, reports the Telegraph.

Charles Michel is the son of Louis-Michel, former Belgian foreign minister and who also worked as commissioner for the European Commission later in his career.
Charles-Michel was the first French-speaking from the liberal party to become Prime-Minister in Belgium since Paul-Emile Janson in 1937.
