A call has been launched for projects aimed at developing “zero homelessness territories” in Wallonia.
Presented last April by the regional government, the €20-million programme will enable the acquisition or construction of real estate, land or modular housing solutions for homeless people.
It also aims to create innovative collective housing designed to help people with drug addictions, dependency or mental health problems.
The call for projects closes on 15 September 2023. It will involve a minimum of two territories and a maximum of nine, in Wallonia.

Communes, associations of communes, local authorities, not-for-profit organisations, foundations and even organisations with social aims and public utilities can apply, provided that they build their initiative in partnership with a social network and an operator specialising in housing.
“With these pilot schemes, we are also taking the gamble of supporting innovative structures that will provide the best possible support for the most vulnerable people, particularly those with problems of drug addiction, alcoholism or mental health,” the Walloon ministers of Social Action and Housing, Christie Morreale and Christophe Collignon, said in a press release.
