In the second quarter of 2023, the Brussels-Ixelles police intercepted 318 drivers under the influence of alcohol, the police said on Wednesday. Of these, 124 had their licences immediately withdrawn for a fortnight.
Another 67 drivers tested positive for drugs during the same period, and 39 of them had their licences withdrawn for a fortnight.
A total of 13,409 tests were carried out, during the day and at night, on weekdays and at weekends.
The person with the highest blood alcohol count had 3.04 grammes of alcohol per litre of blood.
