All Delhaize supermarkets are open for business on Tuesday morning, chain spokesperson Roel Dekelver confirmed to Belga News Agency.
Workers staged a walkout at two shops on Monday following announcements of the first 15 shops to be franchised.
At a works council meeting, Delhaize's management unveiled the list of the first own-management supermarkets to be taken over by independent entrepreneurs. Their transformation will take place over the next few weeks and their reopening as independent Delhaize supermarkets is planned during October and November.
The unions announced in the aftermath that further action would follow. Buyers will be "among the targets for further action," the CNE union has already warned.
A meeting of the common union front is scheduled for at noon on Tuesday.
