The Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police conducted a series of drug trafficking operations in the Yser district last Friday and Saturday, resulting in one suspect being remanded in custody.
During a patrol on Friday night, two officers in civilian clothing were propositioned to buy drugs from an individual at the Yser metro station. The suspect, known to police for drug dealing, was held overnight but released after questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
Later that evening, the same officers returned to the metro station where they witnessed an alleged drug sale take place. The dealer, who was found to have over €230 in cash on his person, was arrested and will appear in court in mid-February.
On 27 January, other officers detained a man who was seen hastily exiting a building on Van Gaver Street. This followed an observation operation and the man was found to be in possession of heroin.
Following a search at the man's residence, items discovered included more than €6,500, drug manufacturing paraphernalia, five phones, 275 grams of heroin, a block of heroin and approximately 67 heroin "balls" prepared for sale.

Two other individuals were present at the residence and also detained, along with the apprehended suspect. All three were taken into custody by the authorities.
The investigating judge, appointed by the prosecutor, charged all three as suspects. One has been remanded in custody, with the remaining two being released after questioning. The investigation is still ongoing.
