The second edition of the Flemish Beer Pong Championship will take place in the city of Leuven this week. A total of 40 teams of two contestants will be competing to be titled King or Queen of the drinking game.

The Flemish Beer Pong Championship will be taking place in the youth house the ZoeNK in Leuven, famed for its beer pong tables, on Thursday 4 March.

"Last year was a great success and this year promises to be at least as splashing an edition," the organisers said. "We challenge you to show off your beer pong skills and compete for the coveted title of Flemish Beer Pong Champion."

During the first rounds, players will get 15 minutes per game to show off their skills. From the knockout phase onwards, the time slot will be abolished and the team that can outplay the other team first wins. Players are not obliged to play with beer.

Unlike in the drinking game version, the drink in the cups does not have to be alcoholic, but the other rules for playing are much stricter: a player's elbow must always stay behind the edge of the table, and the ball cannot be blown out of the cup.

The maximum capacity of 40 teams was already reached after just one day of registration, but those who were not able to register can still head to Leuven to show their support.

Alternatively, keen players can register for the official Belgian Beerpong Championship 2024 in September, the biggest beer pong event in the Benelux. This festival experience – the competitions are organised alongside live performances and DJ sets – will take place in the heart of West Flanders.
