Elon Musk has been criticised for sharing a post on social media in support of Dries Van Langenhove by a far-right activist who pushed a false extremist narrative about free speech in Europe.

On Tuesday, the former Vlaams Belang MP Dries Van Langenhove was sentenced to one year in prison for racism and Holocaust denial while being the leader of the banned neo-Nazi group he founded.

A far-right agitator from the Netherlands used the ruling on X to push the extremist narrative of Van Langenhove's sentence symbolising "the state of freedom of speech in Europe", which Musk reposted onto his profile.

"Next time they’ll do this to me, you or anyone who goes against the globalist regime. I’m seriously lost for words here. This is full-blown tyranny and we should fight it with all our might," professed the Dutch extremist.

The owner of Tesla and Space X then decided to repost it to his profile with a "woah" comment, seemingly endorsing the narrative.

Belgian State Secretary for Recovery, Strategic Investments & Science Police Thomas Dermine responded by addressing Elon Musk directly.

"Dear Elon Musk, in Belgium, racism is not an opinion. It is a crime. Rightfully, so. Freedom of speech ends where hate begins. So simple is that," Dermine responded.

With the latest outburst, Musk continues to peddle his anti-liberal agenda on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) he bought in 2022. This tweet was accompanied by a series of posts against transgender people, racism against white people or even claiming that "OpenAI is a Lie".
