Climate activist Greta Thunberg will take a year out of school from this summer.
The 16-year-old Swedish teenager wants to focus on her fight to protect the climate, a member of her entourage told the German press agency DPA.
Greta Thunberg has inspired thousands of young people all over the world to organise climate marches and protests. Miss Thunberg wants to attend the United Nations climate summit in New York in September, as well as the world climate conference in Santiago, Chile, in December.
Despite the break, she is not worried about her education. Her entourage said she will simply finish school a year later.
Greta Thunberg never travels by plane on principle. Her family are currently looking for another way to cross the Atlantic Ocean.
