A night-time naked visit to a Paul Delvaux exhibition in Liège aims to break down the barriers between the beholder and some of Belgium's most celebrated nudes.

On Friday 28 February, La Boverie museum in Liège has organised a nude visit to its exhibition The Worlds of Paul Delvaux in collaboration with the Federation of Belgian Naturism and the Barefoot Eves and Adams organisation.

The naturist evening will give visitors the opportunity to "experience art from a new perspective", according to La Boverie.

"This unusual initiative aims to overcome the barriers between spectator and art by offering a sensory and emotional experience," the museum stated.

"This naturist visit is an invitation to reconsider our relationship with the body, beauty and freedom. In the work of Paul Delvaux, nudity is not only aesthetic; it is a window onto dreams, mystery and emotion. We want to offer visitors a unique moment to reconnect with this profound dimension of his art."

Respect and inclusion

Delvaux is a twentieth-century Belgian artist renowned for his paintings of nude women in various outdoor landscapes and indoor scenes. He is often associated with surrealism but did not exclusively identify with this artistic movement.

Experienced and amateur nudists are welcome to La Boverie on Friday, as is anyone who is simply curious about the initiative.

Only adults are permitted to take part and must reserve their tickets ahead of time. The museum strives to foster a respectful, inclusive environment and there will be no photos taken during the visit.

The Worlds of Paul Delvaux exhibition opened in October. It showcases 150 works and will run until 16 March.
