The next Consultative Committee meeting, which was set to take place next week, will be postponed until after the Easter holidays, announced the cabinet of Prime Minister Alexander De Croo.
The meeting was initially scheduled to take place on Friday 25 March, but will now take place after the Easter holidays (from Monday 4 April to Sunday 17 April). That way, the health situation and the evolution of the figures can be put into better perspective.
Earlier this week, Federal Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke had already indicated that the planned Committee meeting would probably come too soon, since Belgium only went into 'code yellow' on the coronavirus barometer ten days ago.

Yellow is the lightest code on the barometer, meaning that nearly all remaining restrictions were lifted. However, when Corona Commissioner Pedro Facon introduced the tool at the start of the year, he made it clear that he expected a time when it would no longer be necessary.
The ministers planned to examine whether the barometer could be dropped altogether during the next Committee meeting, but that step will now have to wait for a while.
In the meantime, several international meetings that require De Croo's presence are also taking place in Brussels next week: an extraordinary NATO summit on Thursday, as well as an EU summit on Thursday and Friday.
