UberTaxi platform is now live in Charleroi. From Wednesday, Charleroi taxi drivers can offer their services via the app, Uber announced on the same day.
Uber has partnered with the local taxi firm Taxi Europe. Customers can now book a taxi from this company using the app, with services available for Charleroi Airport as well.
The cost of the journey is determined by the taxi meter and payment is through the app.
UberTaxi was first launched in February in three Walloon cities (Liège, Mons and Namur). Current Walloon legislation only allows this service with "traditional" taxi licenses and not with LVC licenses.
In September last year, the Walloon Parliament passed a bill reforming the taxi sector.
