Last night an explosive device was thrown at a residence in Hove, Antwerp province, with local police also reporting a second bomb attack on the same night.
The exterior of the building and a nearby parked vehicle suffered damage, but there were no casualties.
A similar incident occurred the same night in the Borgerhout district of the city of Antwerp, damaging a house and several parked cars.
In both instances, the forensic laboratory and the army’s bomb disposal service took to the scene for procedural observations.
According to the Antwerp Prosecutor’s Office, these two incidents may be linked to the drug scene plaguing the port city.
The police are also investigating a potential connection between these two explosions, concluded the Public Prosecutor.
Arrest made
A subsequent update stated that a 24-year-old suspect was arrested on Wednesday morning in Ranst, in the province of Antwerp, following an explosive attack on a house in Hove on Tuesday night, Antwerp Public Prosecutors said.
The Public Prosecutor's Office points out that two separate investigations are underway into the Hove and Borgerhout incidents. It did not say whether the suspect arrested is also linked to the Borgerhout case.
