A dozen Quebec companies are offering over 400 job opportunities to Belgian workers, according to an announcement from Quebec’s General Delegation in Brussels.
For the second year running, the provincial government in Quebec, Canada, is using a series of meetings in Belgium to connect companies with potential candidates. Those interested have been given until 15 September to apply.
Over 400 positions are available across a variety of sectors suffering from shortages in Quebec, including administration, finance and insurance, education, civil engineering and construction, health and social services, IT, ground transportation, mechanics and trucking.
Belgium’s French-speaking population is seen as a rich resource owing to close working methods and high potential, noted the Quebec General Delegation.
On average, 200 to 300 Belgian workers emigrate to the vast eastern Canadian province each year – a figure Quebec hopes to increase through organising these Belgium-specific ‘Days’.
Candidates have until 15 September to familiarise themselves with the roles and declare their interest. Selected individuals will then be invited to an interview in Brussels on the 28 and 29 September.
In the lead up to this, information sessions will be held in Namur, Louvain-la-Neuve, Brussels, Mons, Liège, Charleroi and Tournai, between 2 to 12 September.
It will be an opportunity to delve deeper into prospective immigration plans and to learn more about Quebec, its regions and labour market.
Registration for these sessions is via the website.
