Due to work on the tracks at Antwerpen-Berchem station, only one out of two trains on the S34 line will run between Sint-Niklaas and Antwerp next week.

This was announced on Friday evening by railway company NMBS and network manager Infrabel.

“Urgent and unforeseen” work needs to be carried out on a railway switch, so Track 3 at Antwerpen-Berchem station will be inaccessible for trains coming from Sint-Niklaas, according to Infrabel.

Additionally, planned renovation works are ongoing on the upper-level tracks at Antwerpen-Centraal station, reducing overall rail capacity.

Specifically, one of the two trains on the Dendermonde – Lokeren – Antwerp line (S34) will not run between Sint-Niklaas and Antwerpen-Berchem from Monday morning, according to NMBS. This train will only run up to Sint-Niklaas.

The adjusted train service will be in effect for the rest of the week.

Travellers are advised to consult the online NMBS journey planner, which will be updated with the modified service from Saturday morning.

Infrabel and NMBS are collaborating to find solutions to further optimise the service.
