Ostend Airport saw a slight decline in passenger numbers in 2024, welcoming just over 352,000 travellers, 8.7% fewer than the previous year.
CEO Eric Dumas attributed the drop to a two-month closure at the start of 2024 for essential runway renovations.
Excluding the closure period, passenger numbers were 2% higher than in 2023, with a high flight occupancy rate throughout the year.
In 2025, Tui Fly will offer flights to 14 destinations from Ostend Airport, which will remain operational throughout the year.
Cargo figures also declined slightly due to the runway renovations: 18,124 tonnes of freight were processed.
Dumas noted that the temporary closure during the peak cargo season had an impact on the overall cargo figures.
Looking ahead, Ostend Airport plans to expand its cargo operations.
A new logistics zone, ‘Cargo Village,’ is being developed with Versluys Logistics to increase capacity and create more jobs.
