The Walloon Water Days 2025 will take place from 14 to 30 March, organisers announced on Thursday.
Over 300 activities will be held across Wallonia by the 14 River Contracts, which manage the region’s waterways. These events coincide with the United Nations World Water Day, celebrated on 22 March.
The event aims to raise awareness of sustainable water management and the protection of this natural resource. This year's theme is "And if water revealed all its secrets?" Activities for all ages will be available in each river valley.
The public can attend conferences, enjoy walks or bike rides along the water, visit various ecosystems, or observe eco-friendly practices over the two-week event.
Around 15 'Clean River Operations' will be organised on several Walloon waterways.
"These days are an opportunity to rediscover water, its richness and its role in our daily lives. It is also a call to act and protect this resource for future generations," stated Gaëlle Caudron, communication officer for the Haine River Contract.
The activities are free, but some require registration.
The full programme is available on the Walloon Water Days website.
