Despite being entitled to five days of training each, only four in ten Belgian workers (41.1%) plan to take advantage of this opportunity this year, according to a study commissioned by Acerta, an organisation specialising in human resources services.
The study, released on Sunday, surveyed 500 employers and 2,000 workers. It found that one in ten workers (9.7%) does not wish to participate in any training.
Providing five days of training to each worker, as outlined in the 2022 Employment Deal, appears challenging. The survey indicates that slightly more than four in ten companies (43.7%) offer this option to their staff, while nearly half (49.2%) offer between one to four days of training.
The deadline for companies with at least 20 employees to submit their training plans is quickly approaching. They must submit their plans by the end of March.
The new federal coalition agreement upholds individual training rights. However, Acerta notes that it plans to abolish the mandatory registration in the Federal Learning Account for employers, replacing it with a system that is less administratively burdensome. Acerta welcomes this change.
