A violent altercation broke out on Wednesday evening among inmates during a walk in Hasselt prison.
Local police from the Limburg Capital Region zone were called in to restore order.
Around seventy prisoners were participating in the walk when the fight erupted.
Razor blades may have been used during the incident, but further investigation is required to confirm this.
One inmate had to be transported by ambulance for medical care.
