In the German city of Duisburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, around fifteen schools will remain closed on Monday due to an increased threat level.

Approximately 17,980 students are affected by this decision. The schools have now switched to remote learning.

On Friday, Gesamtschule Duisburg-Mitte received a letter containing "threatening and far-right statements," according to the police. The sender, who is still unknown, threatened criminal acts at the school on Monday.

On Sunday, the school received another letter with more threats, this time also targeting other schools in the area.

The Duisburg state security service believes these threats are likely a hoax. However, as a precaution, it was decided that the affected institutions should temporarily switch to remote learning.
