Brussels Minister of Employment, Bernard Clerfayt (MR), is set to meet with the unions at Cora on Friday.

He made the announcement on Thursday afternoon following the directorate’s intention to close all seven supermarkets by early 2026, including two in Brussels (Anderlecht and Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe).

The purpose of the meeting is to assess the current situation and evaluate initial support measures for the affected employees.

The closures could impact several hundred workers in Brussels.

According to the minister, the Brussels employment agency Actiris aims to offer tailored support, including training and connections with potential new employers.

"Losing your job is a shock. Our priority is to provide each affected employee with humane, swift, and effective assistance. Actiris is ready to activate its services to facilitate their return to work under the best possible conditions," Clerfayt stated.

Meanwhile, the information phase of the Renault procedure for collective redundancy has commenced.

Following this, negotiations between the employer and unions will determine the conditions for redundancy and the outplacement measures to be implemented by the company.

Clerfayt has also initiated coordination with his Walloon counterpart, Pierre-Yves Jeholet, to develop an interregional response for Cora, similar to the recent efforts for Carrefour.
