A serious road accident occurred overnight from Saturday to Sunday in Mouscron.
A car crashed into a building façade, and both occupants were hospitalised with various injuries, firefighters reported.
Emergency services in Wallonie Picarde were alerted at 2:23 on Sunday about a severe traffic accident at the intersection of Rue de la Marlière and Rue du Congo in Mouscron.
A rescue vehicle, a marking truck, two ambulances, a SAMU unit, and a command vehicle were dispatched to the scene.
The accident happened near the French-Belgian border. “The driver of a car travelling on Rue du Congo towards Rue de la Marlière lost control of the vehicle. After hitting a post and then a street barrier, the car ended up against the façade of a house,” explained Lieutenant Philippe Verhaeghe, who led the intervention.
The occupants were extracted from the vehicle’s wreckage and were attended to by emergency doctors and paramedics. “The car was driven by a man who sustained injuries. His passenger was more seriously injured. Both, aged between 40 and 45, were admitted to the Mouscron Hospital Centre,” the officer specified.
