Clijsters announced her return to tennis in September 2019 and started playing competitively again in February 2020. However, the coronavirus pandemic and several injuries complicated her comeback. She has only played five games since then.
Previously, Clijsters ranked as the world's top tennis player in singles and doubles for women in 2003. She won six Grand Slam tournaments, with four in singles and two in doubles.
