On Wednesday, Airbnb released figures showing that the average host earned around €4,000 (pre-tax) in 2021 from their platform, with income expected to increase in Brussels due to an imminent regional reform.

In September, the American company disclosed that a rising number of Belgians had joined the platform to rent out their homes to visiting tourists in order to make ends meet.

Two months later, the platform has put out a press release with numbers indicating that the average revenue a person received from listing their property on Airbnb reached up to €4,000 (pre-tax) in 2021.

The American platform ascribed this in part to last year's summer period, which the months of July, August and September saw the most activity. During this period, half of the listings were active and already booked within three days.

Furthermore, on Wednesday, the firm unveiled new services and incentives to make it simpler for hosts to rent out their house.

This will have been particular interest to potential users in the capital, who will have already been embellished by the recent loosening of regulations on the matter in the region.
