Traffic in the city centre of Liège was at a standstill this Monday morning after a suspicious vehicle was discovered in front of the city's Moroccan consulate.
The police were called to the scene at around 10:00 after the vehicle's driver was not found.
Wary of a potential bomb threat, experts were called in as a "precautionary measure."
Moreover, a security perimeter surrounding the site was set up by the police, with the Boulevard de la Sauvenière and d'Avroy having been closed to traffic.
By around 11:00, all safety measures were lifted after the bomb disposal experts failed to find anything. "It was a false alarm," the police stated afterwards, before confirming that "everything has returned to normal."
