Dutch police arrested a 34-year-old Belgian fugitive in Geldrop, the Netherlands, police announced on Tuesday.
The suspect was arrested at around 22:00 on Saturday while riding a bike with an inflatable palm tree that he had stolen during a beach volleyball tournament which had taken place earlier in the day in the town.
Caught with the stolen inflatable, the suspect admitted his theft and returned the object to the organisers.
During routine background checks, Dutch police officers realised that the suspect was meant to serve 18 years in jail in Belgium over the death of a person in Flemish municipality of Zonhoven, in the province of Limburg, in 2016.
