An anonymous hero is making headlines after a video emerged on social media in which he was filmed saving a woman from the train tracks at Brussels-Midi station on 14 August, SudInfo reports.
The video shows a man dressed in white jumping down from one platform, picking up the woman standing on the tracks, and carrying her to the platform on the other side. The individual taking the video then seems to help pull her up.
After being rescued from the tracks, the woman sat with her back to a wall, where the anonymous rescuer crouched down in front of her, speaking in a seemingly reassuring manner.
It would seem like the woman had been standing on the train tracks for several minutes before the intervention.
The anonymous hero has been lauded, including by Brussels MP Jama Ikazban, who shared the video on Facebook, commenting: "There are also anonymous heroes in train stations."
"We are relieved that the outcome was positive, thanks to the intervention of this kind-hearted person, who also put his life in danger," SNCB spokeswoman Elisa Roux told La Capitale.
