Warner Bros. Discovery will launch its Max video-on-demand platform in Belgium in 2024, the US media group announced on Monday. The streaming service will feature series from the HBO production house.
Max is the successor to HBO Max. Warner Bros. Discovery has decided to revamp the platform and expand its catalog. Following the U.S. overhaul, the new format will be launched in 22 countries across Europe next spring, including Belgium. In the Benelux countries, however, the former name HBO Max will be retained,
According to Dutch media, this is for legal reasons, as a Max channel already exists in the Netherlands.
A launch in Belgium seems surprising, since the new HBO series are currently broadcast exclusively on Streamz in Dutch-speaking Belgium and on BeTV in French-speaking Belgium.
