A lunar eclipse will light up the sky on Saturday evening. It will begin at around 20:01, reach its peak at around 22:14 and end at around 00:26.
The astronomical phenomenon will potentially be visible across Belgium, as the Royal Meteorological Institute is forecasting "beautiful clear skies" for Saturday evening.
A partial eclipse occurs when the Earth is positioned between the Moon and the Sun, casting its shadow over part of the night star.
However, a partial eclipse is different from a total eclipse, which occurs when the Sun, Earth and Moon are aligned. The Earth's shadow completely covers the Moon, giving it a reddish tinge.
In the case of a partial eclipse, the Moon, which is not completely obscured, takes on a dull greyish appearance, according to the Urania Observatory.
