A knife has been found during a search operation as part of the investigation into Diana, who was murdered in December last year. It is not yet clear whether it is the murder weapon.
At around 20:40 on 3 December, police were called to the entrance hall of a building on Avenue du Diamant in Schaerbeek. Officers from the Brussels-North police zone found that a café owner named Diana had been stabbed. They provided initial medical assistance until emergency services arrived, but she succumbed to her injuries.
The Public Prosecutor's Office immediately opened an investigation and two suspects were arrested, including Diana's ex-partner. He was placed under arrest and investigated for manslaughter. Earlier this month, a second suspect was arrested.
Last week, a search operation took place in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw in the Brussels-Charleroi canal. Initially, the search yielded nothing, but it continued on Tuesday. During the operation, a knife was found in the water, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed to Bruzz.
"We can confirm that searches were carried out again today in the canal in Ruisbroek as part of the investigation into the murder of the café owner in Schaerbeek," Willemien Baert of the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office said.
"A knife was found, but it is not yet clear whether this is the murder weapon. Further investigation is needed."
