Around 27 kilograms of ketamine were seized on Wednesday in the home of a suspected drug dealer in Schaerbeek by the Brussels-North police zone, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday.
At around 10:00 on Wednesday 12 February, officers from a support unit of the police went to the Cage aux Ours area in Schaerbeek to follow up on a case and conduct a house search.
Upon spotting the police, a man fled through the back window of the building, triggering a police chase on foot. The man was arrested a few feet away.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the man had "several items of criminal origin." Following a house search, the police found and seized 27.1 kilograms of ketamine and equipment used for making and packaging drugs.
The man was brought before an examining magistrate on charges of illicit possession, the manufacture of narcotics for sale, and forgery and use of forged documents. He was released on conditions by the judge.
