Hundreds of people gathered on Saturday morning in Dresden to prevent a far-right rally commemorating the city’s destruction during World War II.
Counter-protesters blocked several roads along the route. A solution is expected in the coming hours. Around 2,000 far-right activists from Germany and beyond were expected to attend the event marking 80 years since the Allies’ bombing on 13 February 1945.
Historians estimate that about 25,000 people died during the campaign by British and US forces to overthrow the Nazi regime.
