Europe overlooked for peace talks between Ukraine and Russia

Planned peace negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States will proceed without European participants.

Trump’s special envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, announced this on Saturday during the security conference in Munich, The Guardian reports. Europe will be consulted, but not given a seat at the table.“It may sound harsh, like nails on a chalkboard, but I’m being completely honest,” Kellogg said.

To his European counterparts, Kellogg added, “I would suggest you engage in the debate not by complaining about not having a seat at the table, but by bringing concrete proposals, ideas, and investing more in defence.”

Kellogg cited the involvement of too many parties as a reason previous peace talks failed.
