Four arrests were made on Monday as part of the investigation into the late November shooting in the Antwerp district of Berchem, the Antwerp Public Prosecutor announced on Wednesday.

The four individuals are suspected of attempted murder. Searches were conducted and resulted in the seizure of weapons and drugs.

The incident occurred shortly after 08:00 on the morning of 26 November. A 41-year-old man had just dropped off his son at school when he was blocked in by a delivery vehicle on Burgemeester Woutersstraat. Gunshots were fired.

The victim was injured and taken to hospital. Police found a firearm and a shell casing in his car. The man admitted to firing at his attackers. An investigation was launched, leading police to suspect four individuals.

On Monday, searches were carried out in Evergem, Lokeren and Zele. Four individuals aged 20, 21, 22, and 32 were arrested. Authorities seized a handgun, an alarm gun, ammunition, a taser, €7,000 in cash, and a large quantity of cocaine.

Three of the four men have since been placed under arrest by the investigating judge. They are suspected of attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons, and participation in a criminal organisation.
