The Passchendaele Museum in Zonnebeke, Flanders, reopens its doors on Saturday after several months of renovation.

Following the works, the castle rooms have been refreshed, and the audio guide has been revamped to enhance visitor experience.

The museum immerses visitors in a reconstruction of the Battle of Passchendaele, which took place in 1917 during the First World War.

It showcases numerous historical exhibits from the infamous battle where hundreds of thousands of soldiers lost their lives.

Renovation efforts focused mainly on the castle’s historical features.

It has revealed previously hidden elements, such as certain fireplaces and windows, which have regained their former glory.

Improvements have also been made to the museum’s layout to ensure smoother visitor flow.

"We are prioritising visitor experience," said Joachim Jonckheere, the museum president.

The Passchendaele Museum is open daily from 10:00 to 17:30.
