After being shut down on Friday 19 August for a scheduled test, Tihange 2 nuclear power plant was restarted in the early hours of Saturday morning, a spokesperson for Engie (the operating company) announced.
The plant was stopped automatically following a test on the power control system. This has now been completed and the results have been analysed, Le Soir reported.
Tihange 2 has an output capacity of 1008 megawatts and is due to be permanently disconnected from the electricity grid on 1 February 2023, before resuming operations in the following years.
