Queen Elizabeth II died of 'old age,' according to death certificate

The official death certificate of Queen Elizabeth II was released on Thursday, indicating that the Monarch died of old age.

Announced by Buckingham Palace at 17.30 GMT, the certificate released by the National Archives of Scotland show that Queen Elizabeth II died on 8 September at 15:30 GMT.

The certificate was signed by Princess Anne, Elizabeth II's daughter, who had accompanied her mother during her final hours.

Her eldest son, King Charles III, had arrived at Balmoral by midday, but her other sons Andrew and Edward, and Charles' son William, did not arrive until the evening. William's brother Harry did not arrive until much later.

The occupation box on the certificate reads 'Her Majesty the Queen' and Windsor Castle is listed as her 'usual' address, even though Buckingham Palace is usually the main residence of British monarchs.
