An exhibition devoted to monumental Lego sculptures, 'The Art of The Brick,' opened on Friday on the Grand-Place in Brussels.

The creations on display were designed by American artist Nathan Sawaya using a million blocks. They include sculptures representing the Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh, Venus de Milo and the Scream by Edvard Munch.

A former attorney and ardent Lego fan, Nathan Sawaya uses colour, movement, light and perspective to try to bring his characters and objects to life.

Brussels hosted a first Lego exhibition ten years ago, in the Stock Exchange building.
