Nearly 100,000 people celebrated the 34th anniversary of the Brussels-Capital Region during the Iris Festival this weekend, visit.brussels said in a statement.
As is customary, the European institutions opened their doors to the public on Saturday.
Seven Brussels municipalities (Anderlecht, Etterbeek, Ganshoren, Ixelles, Saint-Gilles, Saint-Josse-ten-Noode and Schaerbeek) were put in the spotlight on Saturday.
The public was able to discover places that are a bit “secret or usually closed to the public,” including some of the famous Art Nouveau buildings for which Brussels is well-known for.
On the evening evening, over 15,000 revellers danced to the rhythms of the DJs on Place des Palais.
On Sunday, the Royal Park of Brussels hosted "themed villages" with lots of family activities. Many street artists were also present in the park and on the Place des Musées.
