Ensor Awards 2024: 'Wil' and '1985' win big

The '1985' series and film 'Wil' emerged as the big winners of this year's Ensors, the Flemish film and audiovisual awards ceremony held in Ostend, with honours across 30 categories.

'1985', a series based on the Brabant Killers, bagged no fewer than ten awards including Best Score, Best Fiction Series Screenplay, Best Lead Actor (Aimé Claeys), Best Supporting Actor (Tom Vermeir), and most importantly, Best Fiction Series.

'Wil', a film following two friends who are working as police officers in Antwerp during the Second World War, harvested seven Ensors, notably for Best Screenplay (Carl Joos) and Best Film. Lead actor Stef Aerts and supporting actor Jan Bijvoet also received accolades.

The Best Documentary Series award was given to 'Godvergeten', a series revisiting cases of sexual abuse within the Church.
