Seven men from Kortrijk (West Flanders) and one Dutch woman living in Antwerp have been arrested in a large-scale investigation into international drug trafficking.
The individuals are suspected of smuggling cocaine from Morocco into Belgium and France and six are currently in police custody.
"In Belgium and France, intermediaries managed the financial flows, money laundering, and cocaine sales," the Public Prosecutor's Office stated.
"The drugs were stored in houses in Menin, Waregem, and northern France. Couriers were recruited in Belgium and France to transport both the drugs and the money."
The organisation allegedly handled 1.2 tonnes of cocaine and had been active for an extended period.
Raids conducted in Belgium and northern France led to the individuals' arrests.
Police also seized luxury watches and clothing, cocaine, two SUVs, and an unspecified amount of cash.
