The clouds are expected to clear from Friday, giving way to several days of sunny weather in Belgium.
After a very grey December (Belgium saw just 17 hours of sunshine last month compared to the normal 48 hours) and a particularly wet and stormy January, February is expected to start on a brighter note. The clouds and rain covering most of Belgium on Thursday due to Storm Ivo are expected to clear by the evening, the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) said.
"On Friday, a weakened Atlantic disturbance over the British Isles will bring more clouds and possibly some drizzle in the far west," it noted. "After that, there will be a high-pressure area over Europe for several days."
This will bring with it several sunny days over the weekend and at the start of next week. "On Saturday, there is an initial chance of low clouds and freezing fog, especially in the west and centre of the country. Afterwards, it will be sunny everywhere," the RMI said.
Temperatures will be relatively cold, with maximum temperatures ranging from around 3°C in the south to 6°C elsewhere. There will be little change to this forecast on Sunday and Monday. "At night and in the morning, it will be quite cold but sunny during the day."
Some high clouds will start to appear on Tuesday. On Wednesday, cloud coverage will increase with possible drizzle expected.
