A large stock of counterfeit goods, mostly caps sold on social media, was found at the home of a 20-year-old man in Bruges during a house search on Tuesday, according to the local police.

The search resulted from a targeted operation against theft in Bruges' shopping streets, during which plain-clothes police observed two individuals exchanging suspicious purchases over the weekend.

These turned out to be counterfeit items.

A house search was then conducted on Tuesday in collaboration with the Anti-Counterfeiting Unit of the Federal Economic Affairs Department.

Investigators found hundreds of items with fake logos, including brands such as Gucci, Fendi, Moncler, and Ralph Lauren.

Nearly €25,000 in cash was also seized during the search.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office of West Flanders has launched an investigation into the suspected trade in counterfeit goods, and the suspect is scheduled to be questioned soon.
