In the first quarter of this year, seven preliminary sports infrastructure projects received approval from Wallonia’s Minister for Sports Infrastructure, Jacqueline Galant, for a total of €6.99 million.

An additional six projects received firm subsidy commitments amounting to €2.076 million, totalling approximately €9 million for the first three months of the year.

The approved preliminary projects include the construction of a multi-purpose hall in Bombay (Dahlem), the energy renovation of the sports hall in Basècles, and the development of a synthetic football pitch in Bourlers (Chimay).

"The development of sports infrastructure is a crucial lever for the economy and social dynamism of our regions. I will support projects that provide real added value to the region, with concrete impacts for citizens. And let me be clear: we must put an end to parochialism. Every euro invested must be wisely spent," warned Minister Galant.

Each quarter, the Region allocates a series of subsidies to develop and maintain sports infrastructure, adhering to criteria such as an ethical charter, accessibility for people with reduced mobility, energy-efficient construction, and the use of sustainable materials.
