Online and postal voting will not be part of the changes to the Flemish electoral process in 2024, Flemish Minister of Interior Administration Bart Somers has confirmed.
The 2024 municipal and provincial elections in Flanders will usher in various changes, including the end of mandatory voting, semi-direct mayoral elections, and an end to votes by proxy based on a declaration of honour. However, postal and online voting will not be included in the amendments.

Somers stated in the Flemish Parliament that the secrecy of one's vote is "at least as fundamental" as the right to vote. He made clear his belief that online and postal voting would put this principle at risk.
Nonetheless, Somers did state that these possibilities will be examined for the elections in 2030.
