UGC Cinemas have decided to mark the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros. studios by programming some of the US production company’s biggest hits from 15 July to 1 October.

In Belgium, the blockbusters will be shown at the UGC De Brouckère and UGC Toison d’Or cinemas in Brussels, the cinema chain said on Tuesday.

A total of 24 of the studio’s masterpieces will be programmed: 12 films in each cinema. They include Christopher Nolan’s ‘Inception’ (2010), David Lean’s ‘Doctor Zhivago’ (1965), Stanley Kubrick’s ‘Full Metal Jacket’ (1987), Richard Donner’s ‘The Goonies’ (1985) and Clint Eastwood’s ‘On Madison Road’ (1995).

“For 100 years, Warner has never ceased to offer daring works that entertain us as much as they make us think,” said Bruno Plantin-Carrenard, Chief Operating Officer of UGC Belgium. “It seemed obvious to us to celebrate the studio’s centenary by programming 24 masterpieces in our Brussels cinemas.”

“Warner is mainly about great auteur films, it’s the meeting point between highly artistic cinema and mainstream cinema,” said Olivier Snanoudj, senior vice-president of Warner France.

To enable as many people as possible to see these great classics on the big screen, a preferential rate of €8.50 per screening will apply. “François De Brigode, RTBF journalist and film enthusiast, will join in this celebration as part of exclusive events,” the UGC group stated further.
