Friday marks the start of the final weekend of summer but don't fear, there is plenty happening to cheer you in a final celebration. From festivals to free concerts, here's what's happening in Brussels this weekend.
Music, art and culture
Botterhammen in de Stad, Gare Maritime, Friday 26 August
Missed the "Boterhammen in de Stad" (literal translation: "sandwiches in the city") events during the week? Worry not, you're right on time for the festival's closing party. Throughout the day, enjoy an afternoon concert by Dutch rapper Typhoon, before grabbing a beer on the AB summer terrace between Gare Maritime and Park Tour & Taxis.
From 19:00, the free Feeërieën concerts will kick off for the final time, with record label On the Corner Records taking over. Look forward to Kenyan DJ/producer Coco Em and Moroccan musician Guedra Guedra who fuses North African rhythms with bass-heavy electronics. More info here.
Eat, drink and be merry
BXL BeerFest, Tour&Taxis, Saturday 27 - Sunday 28 August
While you're in the neighbourhood, why not stop by BXLBeerFest, which titles its event as "not just another beer festival". It features a selection of artisan breweries from Belgium, and further afield.
Over two days, the festival will host a selection of brewers ready to "serve locals their best beers in the best conditions." Aside from trying new beers, the festival also organises panels, talks, unique tastings, and culinary sessions. Get your ticket here.
POMPOMPOM Cider festival, See U, Saturday 27 - Sunday 28 August
Not a big beer fan? Head over to See U for different beverage where dozens of artisanal cider producers will be on hand to tempt you with their different cuvées.
To soak up all the alcohol, a giant barbecue will offer local products and street food (including veggie options). Live rock and electronic performances will keep spirits high. Entrance is free.
Tomato Festival, Ferme Nos Pilifs, Saturday 27 - Sunday 28 August
Looking for something very different to do this weekend? The eighth edition of the Brussels Tomato Festival may be right up your street. Come to meet other passionate tomato collectors, growers, gardeners and culinary experts.
The festival will feature an amazing 1,400 tomato varieties, with growers on hand to offer advice on growing and harvesting. Don't miss out on the election of the best tomato by a jury of experts! Found out more about the festival here.

Nuit des Chœurs, Villers-la-Ville (Walloon Brabant), Friday 26 and Saturday 27 August
The Cistercian Abbey of Villers-la-Ville and its gardens, located in the heart of Walloon Brabant, provide a spectacular setting for this promenade concert. Take a walk through the beautiful location whilst being serenaded.
The 800-year-old ruins of the fairy-tale-like construction will become the stage for six world-class vocal ensembles with distinctive musical styles.
