A protest march is planned to take place in Brussels on Sunday, on the eve of Donald Trump's inauguration as President of the United States, at the call of the international movement 'The Surge.'
The demonstration, aimed at protesting fascism, genocide, wars and climate crises, will start at 13:00, from Place de l'Albertine near the Central station, in the centre of the capital.
This call by 'The Surge" was launched two months ago and signed by more than 200 activists from nearly 20 countries. Other similar demonstrations are also organised this weekend in London, Lisbon, Barcelona, Bilbao and Amsterdam.
This action aims to combine "the struggles of anti-fascists, Palestinian liberation and climate justice movements," the organisation emphasised. They also denounced "the violence and unrestrained authoritarianism" of the elites, leading to "the collapse of the systems that have supported life on Earth for millennia."
"Trump's election is a central axis between three crises: the rise of far-right policies, climate change and the escalation of conflicts in the world," the manifesto published by the collective states.
Belgian climate activist Adélaïde Charlier responded to this call and is expected to be present in Brussels.
